ABAN is a pan-African network organization that drives angel investment across Africa and the diaspora. Founded in 2015 by six pioneering angel networks, ABAN connects over 5,000 business angel investors through 75+ member networks spanning 37 African countries. ABAN and its members have collectively deployed over $35 million into more than 1,200 early-stage African startups. Key investment vehicles include Catalytic Africa (a co-investment matching fund) and ABAIV (Africa Business Angel Investment Vehicle), a cross-border pooled vehicle enabling diaspora and continental angels to co-invest.

Verify which ABAN member network is active in your market. Catalytic Africa is the most structured funding vehicle — confirm it is open for new cohorts before applying. Individual angel timelines and processes vary significantly by network.
ABAN is a network-of-networks, not a direct fund. The best path for startups is to connect with a local ABAN member angel network first (e.g. Lagos Angel Network, GAIN Ghana) and get endorsed into Catalytic Africa or ABAIV. Diaspora investors can join thematic networks to access deal flow.
