Under $50,000
Disability Rights Fund offers grant funding to Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) in sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, South-East Asia, and Pacific Island Countries. Most grants awarded in 2026 will be under $50,000 and will support 12 months of work. DRF funds disability rights work at grassroots, national, and regional levels, with preference for applications that also address areas such as gender justice, LGBTQI+ rights, economic justice, climate justice, racial justice, youth rights, or Indigenous rights. Applications start with a Letter of Interest submitted through DRF’s portal, and only invited applicants can submit a full application.

Organizations led BY persons with disabilities that advance disability rights through advocacy, policy reform, and movement building. They exclusively fund OPDs (organizations OF persons with disabilities, not just FOR them). Strong focus on CRPD implementation, inclusive governance, and building the disability rights movement in Africa. Coalition grants encourage collaboration between OPDs.
Capacity building, peer learning networks, advocacy support, connections to global disability rights movement
Very strict OPD eligibility — your organization must be LED by persons with disabilities. Service organizations working FOR (not OF) PwDs are not eligible.
Make clear that your organization is an OPD and that the proposed work is led by and for persons with disabilities. In the LOI, show a strong disability rights focus and, if applicable, explain how the work also advances one of DRF’s stated cross-cutting priorities such as gender justice, climate justice, or youth rights.
