ADM Cares is the corporate social investment program of Archer Daniels Midland Company, one of the world's largest agricultural processors. It directs funding to initiatives driving social, economic, and environmental progress in communities where ADM operates. In Africa, ADM Cares focuses on sustainable cocoa farming in West Africa through its S.E.R.A.P. program and participation in the World Cocoa Foundation's CocoaAction strategy. This is a corporate giving program, not an open-call grant program for startups.
Equity and quasi-equity investment ($500K–$10M)
Long-term evergreen capital — all returns reinvested
Active governance support and board involvement
ESG and impact risk mitigation advisory
Network access within East Africa startup ecosystem
Long-term growth partnership (not just capital deployment)
Sustainable Agriculture
Supporting safe, responsible, and environmentally sound agricultural practices in critical growing regions
Food Security & Hunger Relief
Increasing food security and supporting hunger relief initiatives in communities where ADM operates
Agricultural & STEM Education
Investing in education with focus on agricultural education and STEM projects
Innovative and scalable East African businesses that blend profitability with social/environmental impact. DOB Equity looks for founders with strong vision and management capability who want an active, long-term investor aligned with impact goals. Sectors include agri, health, fintech, and more.
Integration with ADM supply chain programs, access to ADM's agricultural expertise and network.
Not an open-call grant program — cannot apply directly; Corporate giving aligned with ADM business interests, not independent philanthropy; Africa focus is narrow (primarily West Africa cocoa); Original unverified data significantly overstated accessibility and ticket size
ADM Cares is most accessible through existing NGO partnerships in ADM's cocoa supply chain in West Africa. If your organization works in sustainable cocoa farming in Ghana or Ivory Coast, engagement through the World Cocoa Foundation's CocoaAction network is the best pathway. This is not a funder for general African startups.
