Seeking 10 exceptional solutions built for the next decade — solving urgent problems and proving credible pathways to scale through markets, policy, procurement, or platforms.
Tech-based social enterprises with innovative solutions to global challenges in health, climate, learning, and economic prosperity. Solutions must respond to rapidly changing realities and operate at the speed of need. Strong emphasis on people-first design — built with and for underserved communities — and credible pathways to scale.
Multi-year support as part of the Solver community: mentorship from MIT experts, technical expertise, business and entrepreneurship training, media and conference exposure, peer learning network, and additional funding opportunities throughout the program.
Annual challenges (Sep-Nov) are separate from the 10th Anniversary special challenge. Verify which challenge you are applying to. Reporting requirements exist for Solver teams.
The 10th Anniversary Challenge is a special open call with larger prizes than typical annual challenges. Winners present at UNGA in NYC — enormous visibility. The StepForward challenge specifically reserves a slot for Middle East & Africa nonprofits. Score well on all 6 criteria (Alignment, Impact, Feasibility, Innovation, People-First Design, Scalability) — the selection process is highly structured with staff screening, expert reviewers, and semifinalist judging panels.
