2026 Africa edition not yet announced — monitor starts.eu for open call. The global STARTS Prize 2026 (different track, €20K, already closed) accepts worldwide applicants including Africans.
The 2025 edition received 537 submissions (33% increase over 2024). Projects should clearly articulate the art-technology nexus and demonstrate real-world social impact. Past winners include interdisciplinary collectives (e.g., Kairos Futura's The Wild Future Lab, a Nairobi re-wilding project). Having a compelling narrative about African-specific challenges improves jury resonance.
