XPRIZE Healthspan

XPRIZE Feed the Next Billion
Competition for alternative protein production. Relevant to African food security.
Teams creating breakthrough, scalable solutions to specific grand challenges. Technology-focused with emphasis on real-world testing and measurable outcomes. Teams must demonstrate genuine technical capability — these are engineering-heavy competitions, not pitch contests.
XPRIZE provides testing infrastructure, media exposure, and connections to sponsors and investors. Winners and finalists often attract significant follow-on investment and partnerships.
Registration for Water Scarcity (the most Africa-relevant active competition) is already closed. Check individual competition pages for current registration status before investing time in applications.
Water Scarcity registration is closed but watch for new XPRIZE competitions launching — they typically announce 1-2 new competitions per year. XPRIZE has historically covered entry fees for teams from developing countries. The real value is the multi-year journey: teams gain investor attention, media coverage, and partnership opportunities throughout the competition, not just from winning.
